Dear Consumer,
At HIT Entertainment we have always required our licensees to manufacture products to meet the highest standards of quality and safety and all our licensing and manufacturing arrangements contain detailed provisions designed to ensure compliance.
However, in light of the recall by RC2 in June, and reinforced by recent recalls by other manufacturers, the company had initiated a system of 3rd party testing and monitoring, which we are implementing broadly as a continuous quality control process. This testing is not in any way a substitute for the testing regimes we expect our licensees, particularly manufacturers, to undertake on all products bearing the image of any of our brands.
We fully understand that everyone expects that every single product that bears the image of one of our brands must be safe for children and we are very sorry for recalls that have occurred. We are disappointed that RC2 have had to undertake a second recall on the limited number of items from the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway range.
In addition to initiating the 3rd party testing stated above we continue to work closely with licensees who are involved in recalls to identify ways in which their processes can be improved to ensure the safety of all products that they manufacture.
Although most recalls only affect a small percentage of the total range of products available, having even one item fall short of safety standards is unacceptable to us.
