HIT Entertainment, one of the world's leading providers of high quality children's entertainment, has entered into a licensing deal for the first time with Classic Imports, a leading manufacturer of room and wall décor, beverageware and impulse/novelty items for specialty, mid-tier and online channels, for a full line of retro Barney™ products. Launching under the Toon Labs Ink label, the nostalgic line of gifts and accessories will appeal specifically to tween, teen and adult Barney fans that have fond memories of having loved and watched Barney & Friends™on TV as children.
Classic Imports plans to develop, manufacture and market a variety of novelty items including glassware, blanket cozies and magnets beginning Spring 2011. A complete line, that also includes wristbands, wall art, lanyards, and keychains, will also be developed by Classic Imports and targeted to the more mature Barney fan.
"Barney holds a special place in kids' hearts, whether they're three or thirty," said Stacey Reiner, Vice President, Consumer Products, HIT Entertainment Global Brands, US. "We're glad to partner with Classic Imports to offer products to our original Barney fans, each of whom has a special affinity towards Barney and the place he holds in their memories. We know this is a group that will not only want to purchase items for themselves, but to also share with their own children."
"We're thrilled to be partnering with HIT Entertainment for this complete line of Barney retro items," said Raj Arora, President, Classic Imports. "We recognize the huge appeal of Barney as one of the most popular children's characters in the past twenty years. Now that the original fans have grown up, we know they'll be excited to find age-appropriate Barney products."
Since taking the preschool scene by storm in 1992, Barney (along with special pals Baby Bop™, BJ™ and Riff™) has helped parents give their children the range of skills they need to grow – and he always does it with lots of fun, music and laughs.
