HIT Entertainment, one of the world's leading pre-school entertainment companies and a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc., has today announced global entertainment company DHX Media as its animation partner on a brand new CG animated series of Little People.

Based on the iconic Fisher-Price® Little People® brand, the new series is being produced out of HIT’s UK content hub and will feature imaginative and energetic characters that are contemporary and relatable to today’s young children.

Recognised for outstanding animation, distribution and ownership of some of the most recognisable character brands in the world, DHX Media will provide CG animation for the series out of its Halifax studio.

Christopher Keenan, VP Global Content & Executive Producer at HIT Entertainment said: “We couldn’t be more pleased to be working with one of the world’s largest independent children’s entertainment companies, DHX Media, to bring these characters to life and to young viewers’ screens.  I'm thrilled that we have attracted top-notch creative talent to this character- and story-driven show. The series will be helmed by producer Rick Siggelkow, whose credits include Shining Time Station, Noddy and Dinosapien, and our head writer is David Steven Cohen, whose credits include Peg & Cat, Space Racers and Arthur. Between the talent of the team assembled by HIT and the expertise of our partners at DHX, the Little People series is poised for creative and market success.”

Steven DeNure President and COO of DHX Media adds: “Little People is a brand loved by generations of kids around the world and a natural fit for DHX Media’s CG animation studio in Halifax, which will bring a wealth of creative talent to this new incarnation. Our partnership with HIT Entertainment will bring to life this well-loved property and the personalities of its distinctive characters for a new generation of fans.”

The animated pre-school series of 52 x 11’ episodes, planned for release in late 2015, showcases a unique format and emphasizes the power that imagination and group play can have on discovery and critical thinking skills.
