‘Blue Mountain Mystery’, the 60 minute Thomas & Friends CGI special, peaked at the top of the DVD charts to become the UK’s number 1 selling pre-school DVD of 2012*.  The popularity was mirrored when the special aired on Channel 5’s Milkshake! on New Year’s Day, and scaled new heights as 537,000 viewers tuned in**.


And Thomas & Friends was not the only brand from the HIT Entertainment portfolio of home entertainment releases to hit the high notes. HIT’s popular pre-school properties including Mike the Knight and Fireman Sam made up half of 2012’s Top 20 Selling UK Pre-school DVDs.


The ratings for ‘Blue Mountain Mystery’ were even more successful than the previous year’s Thomas & Friends feature-length special ‘Day of the Diesels’ which drew 328,000** in 2011.

The special, which aired in Channel 5's Milkshake! strand, follows Thomas the Tank Engine as he sets off on an adventure of discovery to unravel the clues behind why Luke, the mystery engine he befriends at the Blue Mountain Quarry, has gone into hiding.
