Make a simple frame from card to help you frame your drawings, and see how they'll look.

You will need:
  • Cereal box card
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Lolly stick
  • Pencil
  • Paper
Ever seen an artist doing this?
It's a really good way of looking at something that you want to draw, and pick out the bit that you want to do.
A better way to do this is to cut a frame out of a piece of card, and use that.
If the frame is rectangular, you can also use it to decide if you want the picture to be sideways on ("landscape")...
...or tall, like this ("portrait")!
You can use the frame like a camera viewfinder, to help you focus on a particular detail - a part of a magazine cover, for example.
And if you tape a lolly stick to the frame, like this...
...you can pop it into a ball of sticky tack or modelling clay and position it so that it frames whatever you want to draw...
...like this vase of flowers.
Just draw what you see.
Use the frame to make you focus on what it is that you want to draw.

Try it yourself!
