Discover what's in the deep, dark depths of the ocean with this Art Attack!

You will need:
  • Paper
  • Dark blue wax crayon
  • Watercolour paints
  • Paintbrush
  • Tissue
To create an underwater city, you'll need a dark blue wax crayon.

Just think "Ancient Roman Ruins"!
Start by drawing some tall columns, like the ones you see in pictures of ancient Rome or Greece.
They usually sit on a base...
...draw another on the other side of the picture...
...then think of other long lost ruins.

How about a statue, on a plinth?
Add in some other ruins in the background...
...and other bits and pieces that have fallen down over the years.
Now draw in a few fish!
And don't forget seaweed and rocks.
Finally, take a white wax crayon, and draw dashes, white streaks and dots for bubbles, across the picture.
Finish off by mixing some light blue watercolour paint with water, and brush it across the picture...
...like this!
The white wax crayon shows through, and the rest of the wax resists the water colour.
While the paint is still wet, take a tissue and streak downwards, to represent shafts of sunlight coming from the surface, down through the water.
Finally, brush in some darker colour into some of the underwater shapes.

You don't need to be perfect with this.
And there's a mysterious Underwater City.

Try it yourself!
