Makes a great personalised t-shirt using things you no longer want!

You will need:
  • Newspaper
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Old toys that you no longer want
  • Old t-shirt
Gather together a selection of things that you don't want any more.

In the studio Neil used a selection of old toys and old art materials.
Lay lots of newspaper down on your work surface, and you can begin.
Take one of the old toys, lay it down on the newspaper, and cover one side with a layer of acrylic paint.

Acrylic paint is good because it's waterproof - this means that when the t-shirt gets dirty, it can be hand washed in warm water.
You could use fabric paint for this if you wanted - but acrylic paint is usually cheaper!
When you've covered one side of the toy, take an old t-shirt and lay it on top, like this.
Press the fabric into all the nooks and crannies of the toy, wrapping it as you go.
If you work with your hands inside the t-shirt, the paint won't seep through to the back.
When you're ready - carefully peel the t-shirt away, and admire the result!
All you need to do now is let the design dry.
Here are a couple of other ideas.

This one was made using a wooden art doll...
...and this one was made using a plastic picnic set!
Or how about this? Made using plastic bugs.
And of course, you don't have to do t-shirts!

Try it yourself!
