Use an ordinary magnet to make part of a picture move!

You will need:
  • Cardboard box card
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Coloured pens or crayons
  • A small magnet
  • Paperclip
  • Sticky tape
Cut a frame out of the card, the same size as your piece of paper.

It should be about 2cm thick all round.
Put the frame to one side, and draw a winding road going across the page.
Have fun adding whatever detail you like.

Neil did a countryside scene with a river threading its way through the picture too.
Colour in, and stick the card frame onto the back.
The frame should strengthen the picture a bit, making it more sturdy.
Now for the moving part

Draw and cut out a little shape of whatever you like - a car, person, bike or whatever.

Here, you can see that Neil did a car.
Use sticky tape to attach the paper clip to the back of the picture.
Take your magnet...

...it can be any size...
...and hold it underneath the picture, with the car or moving picture placed on top.
Pull the magnet along the road...
...and there you have it!

The car or whichever moving picture you chose will move!
You could try a ski slope...
... a horse show...
... or a fun rollercoaster ride.

Try it yourself!
