Mirror frames can be all shapes and sizes - and even in different disguises!

You will need:
  • An old mirror tile
  • Cardboard box card
  • Sticky tape
  • Scissors
  • Thin tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Paint
Draw around an old mirror tile onto some cardboard box card.
Then draw an oval shape inside the outline of the mirror, and a frame shape of your choice around the outside.
Cut out the inner and outer bits so that you're left with a frame that fits over the mirror, like this.
Now to make the door! Cut out an oval that's exactly the same size as the hole in the frame.

To do this, place some more card behind the frame and draw round the oval. Then, tape a loop of thin card on one side of the oval you've just cut out.
With the neat side facing up, place the card door back into the frame's hole.

It should fit perfectly, with the handle sticking out at the side!
To make a hinge for the door, glue on a little square of thin card opposite the handle, where the door meets the frame.
While the door is still closed you can decorate the frame.

Neil did an enchanted mirror. Here you can see he has drawn on some ornate carving, and made some of it 3D by using thin twists of tissue dipped in glue.
When all the glued bits are dry, paint the frame however you like.
Then tape the mirror tile to the back, and add a loop of string so that you can hang it up.
Now it's ready to hang up wherever you like!
You can hide your mirror in any disguise you like.

This enchanted castle has a drawbridge that opens to reveal... you!
