These are great for disguises and fancy dress parties!
You will need:
Blow up the balloon to roughly the same size as your head, and place it in a bowl or jug. Secure it with some sticky tape. This will act as a stand as you build up your wig! |
Cut the end of the orange net open carefully - big enough to fit onto the top of your head. |
Place the bag over the top of the balloon and tape it into position. |
Choose wool that's roughly double the length of the hair you want to make. Take one strand and fold it in half, creating a loop at one end. Push the looped end through one of the holes in the orange net. |
Open out the end of the loop as you pull it through. |
Then drop the two loose ends through that loop. |
Pull the ends through tightly, so that the wool is attached to the netting. |
As you tie on more and more wool, the hair will grow in front of your eyes! |
Keep going until you've got a full head of hair - it'll probably look quite messy though! |
Now you're the hairdresser - so cut the hair piece into any style you like! Take care not to pop the balloon until you've finished! |
Carefully undo all the sticky tape to reveal your finished wig! |
To make a moustache and beard, cut a mouth shape out of some cereal box card. |
You're going to use the same threading method as you did for the wig. So first, take a length of wool and fold it in half, making a loop at the end. |
Push the loop end through the moustache. |
Then thread the two loose ends through the loop... |
...and pull securely. |
Build up the facial hair until the card is completely covered. Then snip away to make the moustache the shape you've chosen! |
Attach some string to the finished product.. |
...so that you can wear it properly! |
Here's Neil looking old with a matching wig and moustache! |
You can use any colour you like - or lots of different colours to make a party wig. |
If you've got loads of wool, why not go for some long hippy hair? Groovy! Try it yourself! |
